So what is Hoof Armor? Hoof Armor, is a tough, durable and protective, yet flexible abrasive resistant adhesive coating used to protect the bottom and sides/walls of a horse’s hoof.

This can be from excessive wear and chipping and/or fungal and bacterial infection.
It is more flexible than the hoof so it doesn’t restrict the natural expansion and contraction of the hoof.
Hoof Armor allows natural expansion for optimum circulation, hoof health and protects the sole of the hoof while it becomes stronger and more resistant to stone bruising.
Applied to the sole, hoof wall, the frog and heel bulbs, it simply protects against wear, chipping and abrasion plus protects from invasive infections.
Being flexible Hoof Armor will work with any trimming technique.

What does it do? Hoof Armor is a cyclically permanent (per trim) solution that will protect the hoof, thus giving it a chance to grow thicker hoof for protection and also protect against excess moisture which could make the hoof soft.

With a good, balanced conservative trim to keep the hoof walls from getting long and chipping (just like our fingernails and toenails), Hoof Armor will enable your horse to be barefoot and conditioned for any surface you need to travel over.

HoofArmor is like moccasins for the hooves in that it will protect against penetration, but not bruising.

The purpose of HoofArmor is to protect against wear and infections so that the hoof can grow thicker, tougher, and more callused for it to be able to protect itself.

HoofArmor does not harden the hoof.

The ingredients are designed to actually increase elasticity while helping the hoof grow thicker. This hoof conditioning takes time and patience.

Hoof Armor can be successfully used in conjunction with shoes or boots.

What are the ingredients in Hoof Armor?
The product is USA based and has been FDA approved and they just received re-approval for the next 17 years.
Heres what David Jones, the creator of Hoof Armor wrote about it recently

"HoofArmor consists of only three ingredients: an epoxy base, Kevlar and a natural antimicrobial.
The specifics are confidential, but actually common knowledge.
There are certain epoxy compounds designed to be used in contact with food, like milk jugs and the linings of fruit and vegetable cans. HoofArmor uses one of them as the base.
Then Kevlar pulp is added for added strength, cohesion and thixotropic properties.
The other ingredient is a natural derivative from the Hydroxy group made from non-GMO plants and typically used in skin care and cosmetics. What that does in HoofArmor is act as a cure accelerator as well as an anti-microbial.
This ingredient has been found to increase collagen elasticity and increase dermal thickness. Make sense? This is my sixth formula improvement in 18 years of making HoofArmor."

What can Hoof Armor be used for here in New Zealand?

Hoof Armor protects thin soles during transition to functioning barefoot
Hoof Armor guards against excessive abrasion of the hoof (sand arenas for example)

Hoof Armor is very effective against White Line Disease
Hoof Armor stops progession of Seedy Toe
Hoof Armor prevents excessive wet from invading the sole/hoof structure

Hoof Armor prevents infections

Anything else?
Yes? Current trials are suggesting that Hoof Armor is also effective against sarcoids and dry skin lesions on the body of the horse. PLUS, Hoof Armor is also able to assist in thrush,
