Hoof Armor and White Line Disease/Seedy Toe
White Line Disease and/or Seedy toe
===============
This is where Hoof Armor excells here in New Zealand (in my opinion!)
These two hoof problems are truly a case where prevention is the key to successful hoof care.
Frequent trims to maintain the integrity of the hoof wall to the laminae, growing out flares (not rasping off flares) and keeping the toe and hoof short/balanced will generally prevent seedy toe or WLD.
Or enough appropriate movement to assist in a self trimming lifestyle.
Or Diet cannot be forgotten either
When either of these are present in the hoof - Hoof Armor will aid in the recovery of the hoof structure.
While growing out the wall, Hoof Armor will stop any further breakdown and allow the hoof to heal.
If you are unable to debride the whole area, Hoof Armor can help stop any further destruction on the area - at least that is what I have personally found 100% of the time.
Also extremely helpful AFTER abcessing has drained - to keep any foreign matter from invading this area and to stop the breakdown of the already weakened structure surrounding the abcess site.
David Jones - who created this product once wrote -
""The advantage of HoofArmor for hoof care professionals is that one application lasts weeks and continues to prevent and treat until the next appointment.
No more daily soaks and daily treatments handed over to the horse owner, who may or may not continue the recommendation; particularly in a boarding situation.".

Have found hoof armor really good in helping to get on top of severe WLD. How do you grow out flares without rasping them off?
Do you just clean out the seedy toe area ,maybe treat / soak then seal with hoff armour ?
clean and apply hoof armor. :)
clean and apply hoof armor. :)
I would like to know how to grow out flares without rasping too.
it really is about keeping a healthy foot and creating an anatomically balanced structure :)
